How do I start? If you prefer to run Ghostfolio on your own infrastructure, please find the source code and further instructions on GitHub. Which home server systems is Ghostfolio available on? The community has made Ghostfolio available on various home server systems, including CasaOS, Home Assistant, Runtipi, TrueCharts, Umbrel, and Unraid. How do I add a new currency?

Ghostfolio manages currencies automatically based on all the recorded activities. If you need an additional currency, you can manually enter it.

  1. Open the Admin Control panel
  2. Navigate to the Market Data section
  3. Click on the + button
  4. Switch to Add Currency
  5. Insert e.g. EUR for Euro
  6. Select Filter by Currencies
  7. Find the entry USDEUR
  8. Click the menu item Gather Historical Data in the dialog
How do I resolve No exchange rate has been found errors?

In Ghostfolio, you are responsible for providing the relevant historical exchange rates. This can be done with a one-time import of the data. If you see errors like Historical exchange rate at 2024-01-01 is not available from "EUR" to "USD" do the following:

  1. Open the Admin Control panel
  2. Navigate to the Market Data section
  3. Select Filter by Currencies
  4. Find the entry USDEUR
  5. Click the menu item Gather Historical Data in the dialog
What is the concept of platforms? Platforms are used to group multiple accounts, such as a savings account and a trading account at the same bank. By assigning accounts to the same platform, they are displayed with a unified icon and you gain insights into platform-specific risks. How do I add a new platform?

How do I add a new tag?

Which data providers are supported? COINGECKO, MANUAL and YAHOO are officially supported while all other data providers are considered experimental. How do I set up a benchmark?

To compare your performance with benchmarks (see Compare with...) like Bitcoin, Gold, or the S&P 500, follow these steps.

  1. Open the Admin Control panel
  2. Navigate to the Market Data section
  3. Choose an asset profile
  4. In the dialog, check the Benchmark box
How do I add a custom asset?

If you want to track an asset that is not available from any data provider, you can create a custom asset as follows.

  1. Open the Admin Control panel
  2. Navigate to the Market Data section
  3. Create an asset profile
  4. Select Add Manually and enter a unique symbol
  5. Edit your asset profile
  6. Add a new activity by searching for the symbol
How do I set up Markets?

The Markets list is derived from your Benchmarks.

  1. Open the Admin Control panel
  2. Navigate to the Market Data section
  3. Choose an asset profile
  4. In the dialog, check the Benchmark box

Please note: Data is cached, meaning changes may take a few minutes to appear.

Which devices are supported? Ghostfolio works in every modern web browser on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. Is there a mobile app for the self-hosting version of Ghostfolio available in the app store? No, there is no mobile app for the self-hosting version of Ghostfolio available in the app store. However, you can add the web app to your home screen (e.g. by selecting Add to Home screen in Google Chrome), which provides the same user experience. What is the best approach to managing backups? It is suggested to regularly back up your data by utilizing full database dumps. Got any other questions?
